ETC stands for Energy, Talent, and Commitment.
ETC Heid’s School of Musical Arts was founded in 1977 by Robert Heid and Robert Carlyon as an extracurricular music program for elementary students in Stow, Ohio. In it’s first year, the organization served 13 students in grades 4-7. Nearly 50 years later, ETC has grown exponentially in enrollment, reach, and training, now offering a competitive show choir experience to over 100 students from more than 20 school districts in Akron and the surrounding suburbs.
Our organization’s mission is to provide exceptional music education, dance training, and diverse performance opportunities to our students. Our dedicated staff consists of experienced music educators and dance instructors who are committed to sharing their passion and expertise in every rehearsal.
Vocal rehearsals include an emphasis on vocal technique, stylistically diverse repertoire, expression, musicianship, mustic theory, and much more. Choroegraphy rehearsals focus on dance technique, conditioning, stylistically diverse combinations, showmanship, precision and more. Our students are given the opportunity to perform at formal concerts, competitions, festivals, parades, flashmobs, theme parks, fundraisers and more throughout the season.
ETC upholds a standard of excellence in all apsects of its operations, which reflects in the quality of our performances. This commitment to excellence is evident in the success of our distinguished alumni, who have flourished in their respective professional fields.
Our studio is located in Akron’s Merriman Valley at 1932 Akron-Peninsula Road.
